Turning trashy reality television into treasured posters and prints

The project

Artfully expressing my love for "Housewives"

While decorating my home a few years back, I was desperate to find art for my walls that matched my interests and aesthetic taste. I loved the look of vintage concert posters– playful bold text over vibrant gradients of color. But I wasn't interested in any of the musicians whose posters I could find.

I thought about what I would want to represent most on my walls, and the only answer was my favorite moments from Bravo's "Real Housewives" franchise. These "bad" reality shows have brought me so much joy. I've connected with people from all walks of life about Bravo, and some of the smartest and most sophisticated people out there are fans. (Michelle Obama! Meryl Streep!)

I wanted to create classic posters that embraced the fun and silliness of these shows in a way that would also look nice on a gallery wall. I figured I couldn't be the only one, so I began selling and shipping the prints on Etsy.

The posters took off online and were featured by Entertainment Weekly, twice by Buzzfeed, and even on Instagram by one of the housewives herself. I was invited to showcase my work at Commonplace Projects in Chicago and eventually sold over 1,000 posters.
